PUPILS at St Joseph’s Primary School have issued an unusual appeal for help to collect more than 1,000 plastic pop bottles.
The pupils are embarking on an environmentally friendly mission and will use the bottles to build their very own greenhouse.
But with 1,600 bottles to find, the youngsters will need a lot of help to reach their target.
Pupil Fergus Turnbull said: “I was so excited when we were told. It seems a bit hard but let’s give it a go.”
Once enough bottles have been collected, building of the greenhouse will take place on the school field. As well as bottles, the children are also looking for any help from expert gardeners in the community, to support them in their quest to grow delicious fruit and vegetables.
Pupil Sophie Catlow said: “I can’t wait to start building it. It will be brilliant fun.”
Bottles can be left at the West Close Road school with the labels removed.
