COLNE and Nelson’s Under 16s played host to Chinnor on Saturday.
This is the first time the Under 16s have hosted a touring side, with Chinnor travelling up to the club from Oxford, where they play in the Bath League.
It was a perfect day for rugby, with soft grass and wonderful blue skies, and the game was played with passion, with the score being 7-7 at half-time.
The All Blacks had plenty of support on the sidelines, but this was not enough for them in the second half with Chinnor coming back at them.
The locals bravely hung on with some excellent defence, but in the end it was not to be Colne’s day. Excellent work by the forwards enabled free ball for the wing and the backs, and all the team played in the true spirit of rugby.
The Under 16s also played host to Preston Grasshoppers on Sunday and even though narrowly beaten, it was again an excellent display.
