BARROWFORD over 40 competitor Phil Scott rode his Montesa to 14th place on the 50/50 hard and easy route, and Trawden expert Ross Crosby retired his Montesa machine after one lap at the Ripon DMC Jack Leslie Ellis Yorkshire Centre Trial, in Winksley on Sunday.
MRS Sherco teamster Richard Sadler won the trial, as the Ripon club staged what was also a Yorkshire Centre Championship event.
Out on Dallowgill Moor, the four stream sections took prisoners by the dozen. The sting though for erstwhile leader Dan Thorpe came right at the end of the trial in Ramsdens when the JSt Gas Gas pilot stopped in the last section of the day. Fence clubman Luke Standring took 20th place in the clubman category.
At the Bradford DMC. round five Autowbars Winter Championship, at Halton Gill, Sunday, Horsforth trialler Simon Armstrong won from top novice Chris Stelling.
The former also made the best over 40s performance on the five-lap eight-section course.
Keighley youngster Jacob Snowden opted to ride the hard course section and won his class.
Addingham Class D contender Edward Earle also managed to get his Beta machine round the demanding course to win his class.
The oldest competitor and class winner, was 69-year old John Kendrew who was the best rider on the 50/50 hard and easy route.
Sixty one competitors took part in the trial.
Today sees the Richmond DMC Sid Morton Trophy trial, in Marrick, from 10-30 a.m.
Tomorrow is the Ripon D.M.C. round one Acklam’s Championship, at Castiles Farm, Grantley, at 2-30 and 4-30 p.m.
On Sunday, the Auto 66: Ian Watson Spring Cup motorcycle races are at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough, from 9 a.m., Yeadon-Guiseley MC host the S3 Part Chris Carter Trophy Trial, at Dob Park. from 9-30 a.m., and Horsforth DMC hold the fourth Hanson and Beards Championship at Ramsgill from 11 a.m.
On Easter Monday, the Llangollen and DMC S3 Parts Lomax Trial is at Glyn Ceiriog, at 9-30 a.m., the Huddersfield Falcon MCC Twin Shock/Clubman trial is on Crossland Moor, 11 a.m., and the Richmond DMC Swale Farm easy trial, Grinton, starts at 1 p.m.
