Sex attack in Nelson store: police release CCTV

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Nelson.

Around 3-45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28th, the 23-year-old victim was shopping in the Wilkinson store in Pendle Rise Shopping Centre when she was approached by a man.

He tapped the woman on the shoulder before making inappropriate comments to her and touching her shoulders and breasts before walking off.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police have also issued a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident. The man in the photo is described as Asian, 20 to 25 years old and of medium build. He is believed to be around 5ft. 10in. tall with dark, spiky hair and long sideburns. He was wearing a light-coloured T-shirt, dark jeans and white trainers and was carrying a Home Bargains plastic carrier bag.

Det. Sgt John Woods said: “This was a distressing experience for this young woman and we urge anyone who has information about what happened or who recognises the description of this man to come forward.”
