Matthew star man in big win for Colne FC

IN a game switched to Barnoldswick, Colne FC Under 15s Blue ran up another big score, winning 7-0.

The first half was even, and both teams went in at 0-0, although Colne had a penalty claim denied.

In the second half, an own goal opened the floodgates for another emphatic win for the Blues.

Man of the match Matthew Pates scored twice and Sonny Nike headed home, with smart finishes from Connor Rolland, James Wilkinson and Harvey Bland rounding off the scoring.

• BRIERFIELD Celtic Under 15s White earned a 3-2 win at Barnoldswick White.

Celtic performed well and created several chances, but were unable to apply the finishing touch and went in at half-time a goal down.

But they recovered to win in the second half with a brace from Elijah Veevers and one from John Sturgeon.

Man of the match was Alex Fisk.

• AFTER a very successful first six months, the junior section of Colne Badminton Club is moving to a new site.

After Easter, starting next Friday, April 20th, Colne Junior Badminton Club will play at Pendle Vale Community College in Nelson.

The club plays on Friday evenings, with two sessions, for new players and junior players from 6-7 p.m., the second session from 7-8-30 p.m. for more advanced players.

Both sessions are coached by the club’s 2nd Level coach Andy Tatam and assistant coach Ryan Collins.

BADMINTON England have recognised the increasing interest and badminton skills in the area, with Chief Executive Adrian Christy, visiting Pendle this month.

Meanwhile, a new BADMINTON England East Lancashire Junior Badminton League starts on April 22nd.
