THE last week has been busy for Nelson Wheelers as the time trial racing calendar has started.
The first event was run by Ribble Valley over a distance of 25 miles.
Nelson Wheelers were second in the team event with the combined time of the first three riders added together.
Pete Heywood was the first home with a time of 1.04.37, followed by Ian Wilcock (1.07.57) and Steve Wilkinson (1.08.05).
The second event was run by the veterans’ time trial association which organises races for the 40-year-olds and above.
Any age of rider can enter, but prize money is only given to veteran riders.
The course around the Garstang area was cut short due to road works to 10 miles.
Heywood was the only local rider taking part in this mid-week event, and came 12th.
Last Wednesday saw the opening Kildwick 10-mile time trial, which is a weekly evening event now.
The course sets off from Kildwick, past Skipton to a roundabout then returns to Kildwick.
The event was won by Peter Barusenous.
