A LATE-NIGHT tiptoe through the tulips cost a woman almost £600 after a court was told she had picked 56 of them.
Pennine magistrates heard how Olga Jankovskaja had been drinking when she helped herself to part of Burnley Council’s floral display from town centre flower beds on St James Street.
Jankovskaja, who had struck at 11-20 p.m. on April 28th, was flouting a conditional discharge for theft and had also gone shoplifting on a separate occasion.
The defendant (27), of Temple Street, Nelson, admitted two counts of theft. The Bench resentenced for the conditional discharge and fined her a total of £435. She was ordered to pay £85 costs, £50 compensation to the council and a £15 victim surcharge.
