FINANCIAL Affairs won the Peter Shaw Trophy for the first time in their history by beating Pendle Blues Athletic 2-1 after extra time in a thrilling final at the XLCR Stadium.

After a goal-less first half where relatively few chances were created, Danny Hirst opened the scoring on the hour mark after beating the off-side trap and striking the ball past Blues keeper Phil Wild.

Lee Denton, however, equalised in the 85th minute after striking an unstoppable shot past Affairs keeper Martyn Lockyer to take the game to extra time.

A brave header from Jack Walker Judge one minute before the extra time interval proved enough for Affairs to win the Trophy, and inflict only the second defeat of the season upon Pendle Blues Athletic.

Second Division FC Intershape won the Rotary Cup by beating Fence FC 4-2 on penalties after a goal-less game.
