PENDLE Forest Hockey Club had their second Wednesday night summer league outing in Manchester last week, playing in four matches.
Their first game was against Oldham, and they started well.
Millie Stansfield made a good run down the wing and, following a cheeky pass from Cath Hutchinson, Sarah Towers opened the scoring by hitting the backboard.
Oldham were quick to reply with a sneaky goal to equalise, allowing the game to result in a 1-1 draw.
In the second game, Pendle were slow to get going, with little movement off the ball and few attempts on goal, then out of nowhere a goal was scored by Fiona Head, quickly followed by a second from Judith Hind.
The third game was the best of the night, with four goals being scored from all angles.
Hind scored a fantastic shot in the top left corner.
There were great performances from Janet Mitchell-Stanworth and Natalie Mitchell throughout the night.
The final game was a 0-0 draw against Urmston, due to fantastic saves from Jane Kirkpatrick to keep a clean sheet.
Meanwhile, young starlet Olivia Bythell has been selected for the Under 16s Junior Regional Performance Centre, to be held at Belle Vue in Manchester over the summer.
She will be part of a squad of over 30 young athletes who will attend six full day events to work on skills and matchplay to gain a place in the team.
Olivia has been supported by her Pendle Leisure grant, and the club wish her the best of luck.
