AFTER a run of fantastic results Pendle Forest have found themselves in the top division in their Manchester summer league.

This was their first outing in the top division and their first game was against a well organised Didsbury Northern side.

Forest notoriously start slowly and this was no exception with passes going astray and tackles being missed. Forest were obviously second class in this game and conceded four goals to lose 4-0.

Forest played Oldham in their second game and were determined to put on a better show. They controlled the game from the start and were awarded a number of short corners but were unable to convert them.

Forest were always vulnerable to the counter attack but any pressure was snuffed out by Janet Mitchell-Stanworth and Natalie Mitchell who were outstanding. With Forest unable to score the game ended 0-0.

Forest’s third game was against the youngsters from Bowden ‘A’ team. Bowden were a fast, talented team but struggled to break Forest down who were strong in defence.

Forest had more of the possession and again won a number of short corners but failed to convert them. Both teams had opportunities to take the lead but again, neither team could find the breakthrough so the game finished goalless.

Forest’s final game of the night was against a very good Youngstars team. Forest were tired and Youngstars enjoyed the majority of the possession and the majority of the chances but some good saves by Laura Kendall kept them at bay.

Forest struggled to gain a foothold in the game and although they did create a couple of half chances they never really looked like scoring and were happy to see the game out to draw once again.
