IT’S as you were at the top of the Houldsworth Ribblesdale League as rain washed out the second half of the Senior League’s double header.

Every top flight game on Sunday was washed out after some thrilling action 24 hours earlier.

And it means Barnoldswick top the table with Baxenden and Read still in hot pursuit.

Champions Baxenden-and notably Kamran Younas- found their season’s best batting form against Earby.

Younas posted a brilliant 184 from the visitors 313-6 off 45 overs with Mark Rishton chipping in with an unbeaten 59.

Kurt Smithson then took 5-58 as Earby slumped to 112 all out.

Barnoldswick were equally comfortable winners when they visited Whalley, bowling out their hosts for 94 and then reaching their total for the loss of only two wickets.

Read and Cherry Tree were involved in the day’s highest scoring game. Greg Jones’s 82 helped ‘Tree’ to a defendable 237-4 only for Joe Marshall and Mohammd Jamal to smooth Read’s route to victory.

Marshall needed a six off the last ball to complete an unbeaten century. He could only ‘manage’ a boundary and was marooned on 99.

Barnoldswick lead the way by 18 points with Read a further four points adrift. Clitheroe, seven wicket winners against Settle, lifted them into fourth.
