RED Rose “beef baron” Jim Baines once again lifted the title in the prime cattle section in Craven Cattle Marts’ 2011 Stockperson of the Year Awards.
Mr Baines, who farms in Gisburn and Trawden, was overall CCM Stockperson of the Year in both 2008 and 2009, the first two years the awards were run.
He again dominated last year’s monthly beef show classes, with seven outright championships successes.
The annual awards scheme is designed to recognise the contribution of regular vendors at Skipton Auction Mart and honour a champion among them. Points are awarded for both prize winners at livestock shows and highest priced stock in several categories at weekly sales throughout the year.
The overall 2011 CCM Stockperson of the Year was Yorkshire Dales cattle and sheep farmer Robert Crisp, of Nelson House, Calton, near Skipton. Many local agricultural businesses again sponsored the awards.
