YOUNG swimming sensations got in to the festive spirit as Colne ASC held its Christmas Sprint Gala.
Each competitor throughout the range of age groups swam 25m of all four strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and front crawl) in a bid to accrue enough points to become champion.
William Havers-Strong was the youngest victor, scooping first place in the seven years and under boys category. Jasmin Lahey and Jacob Taylforth took the respective girls and boys eight-year-old crown while Danielle Baxter and Jonah Thomas-Kelly repeated that feat in the nine-year-old category.
Molly Stevens was triumphant in the 10-year-old girls category while Reide Hartley and Joshua Cooke shared the boy’s title. Miranda Bower and Gregan Baker finished top of the pack in the 11-year-old group and Nicole Baxter (12) finished first in her category.
There was success for 13-year-old Jonathon Beech while Katie Farrar and Marcus Bower accumulated the most points in the 14-year-old class. Morgan Hartley (15) proved the strongest swimmer in his age bracket and Alex Berry took the 16 years and over crown.
