WEST Craven held a strong squad for their final game before Christmas playing against Chorley Cougars.

With their only win of the season coming against Chorley in the opening game of the season West Craven went into this game full off confidence.

It was West Craven who started the strongest as well driving into the basket and drawing fouls from the opposition with Jason Raquel going to the line three times within the first quarter.

Chorley though took a narrow lead into the end of the first quarter up, 16-14.

The Turbines carried on their excellent work into the second quarter, driving strong to the hoop again and getting their opposition in foul trouble. West Craven however despite good work didn’t manage to hold on to their lead and went into the half time break down by one with the scores at 25-26.

They came into the third quarter still feeling confident that the team could go on to win the game despite the narrow margin they were behind.

Attacking strong to the basket Craven scored 17 points in a busy third quarter where an influential Chorley player fouled out, opening the door for West Craven to attack and execute the game plan. Despite them being strong offensively, West Craven leaked points at the back and were lucky to go into the end of the third with a two point lead at 42-40.

West Craven remained strong at the back and dug deep, only conceding 10 points in the final quarter which included some big threes from the opposition. The Turbines hit back with 18 points of their own to secure their second win of the season.

A great team performance, with good encouragement and energy from the bench and changes being made at influential times.

Key man was Jake Dawson, who was strong at the hoop on both offence and defence.
