BURNLEY Football Club can confirm that they have today parted company with defender Leon Cort on a permanent basis.
Cort, who joined Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan in August, has had the remainder of his contract at Turf Moor terminated by mutual consent.
The central defender signed for Burnley from Stoke City in January, 2010 on a three-and-a-half year deal and made 15 appearances during the second half of the Clarets' 2009/10 season in the Premier League.
However, the 32-year-old has played just a handful of games since then and is now free to pursue his career elsewhere.
Burnley Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to Leon for his contribution during his time at Turf Moor.
