Help the hospice with unwanted Christmas gifts

With Christmas now a distant memory, you may be wondering just what to do with those gifts that were not quite what you wanted or those boxes of chocolates and bottles of wine and spirits now that you’ve started your New Year health kick.

It can be quite a problem as we don’t want to upset that dear friend or relative that spent time lovingly choosing the gift. Pendleside Hospice has come up with a solution that will ease your conscience as well as helping people in your community.

The hospice is asking you to donate all those unwanted gifts so that they can recycle them as raffle and tombola prizes or sell them in one of their seven charity shops to raise much needed funds.

The hospice relies on support from the community in order to raise the funds needed to provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Running costs increase year on year in response to demand for services. It currently costs over £3.2 million each year to provide this care, of which, more than £2.35 million has to be raised from fund-raising and donations.

Any unwanted gifts can be brought in to the hospice reception at Reedley and the hospice are happy to accept most items but unfortunately for health and safety reasons cannot accept any food or drink that has been opened or electrical items unless in a sealed box.
