COLNE FC Under 14s progressed to the second round of the Lancashire FA Youth Cup with a 4-1 win over Highfield Grange.
Having gone behind to a dubious early penalty, Colne controlled the first half and deservedly levelled with a great first time strike by Brandon Atherton.
In the second half Colne took the lead through Charlie Parker, after good play down the wing from Alex Waring. Colne added a third with a towering header from Owen Fagan from a corner, before Atherton rounded the keeper to complete the scoring.
• PENDLE Forest Under 10s Tornadoes started the North Valley League season with a 2-1 win over Readstone Blue.
First half goals by Finn Buck and Alfie Percival secured the 3 points for the home side, with Jasper Ashworth named man of the match.
Forest’s Under 10s East Lancashire Alliance side also won, beating Clitheroe Wolves 5-2.
Luke Stowe scored a hat-trick and Lewis Whitlow netted twice. Harrison Brown was man of the match
• EARBY Town Under 10s enjoyed an 8-1 win over Pendle Forest in their first-ever competitive game.
Lewis Costelloe and star man Mbako Chalshika both scored twice in the first half.
Declan Mara added a fifth, before Jack Beck made it six, and Jake Boardman then added a brace to round off the scoring.
