The final competition of the season was played at Colne on Saturday - the Presentation Day Competition.
The winner was Steven Reid (83-20-63), who finished a shot ahead of Jeff Ellis (88-24-64).
Third was Andrew Smith (80-13-67).
A meal attended by the season’s competition winners and guests followed, and the trophies were awarded.
Freda Lester’s excellent round of 94-22-72 not only won her the EWGA Medal at Colne, she also reduced her handicap by one shot.
Second place went to Sandra Harris, whose score of 102-28-74 was two shots better than third place Eva Pinder (96-20-76).
l AT Nelson, the Gents’ Dave Burnett Trophy was won by S. Brunton (68-5-63).
The 0-12 division went to A. Maudsley (71-6-65) after cards.
The 13-28 winner was J. Morville (79-14-65).
Best gross was Nick Uttley’s 69, after a card play-off.
The ladies’ team of three competition last Thursday was won by Stella Newton, Kate Dennis and Vena Eastwood with 71 points.
l THE season culminated with the Turkey Shoot at Marsden Park.
Winners were, for the men, Ken Halstead, ladies’ winner was Dawn Shaw, and for the juniors Jake Proctor.
All competitors attending the evening presentation received a prize.
l THIS weekend, at Ghyll, the golfers were playing catch up with their matches, which had previously had to be postponed because of bad weather.
The Ford Trophy was played for on Saturday, and was won by Clifford Hillary with an excellent nett 66.
The Division 1 winner was Andrew Harling with a nett 69, and the Division 2 winner was John Hunt with a nett 70.
On Sunday, the Daily Mail Foursomes was won by Howard Thompson and Tony Hartley with a nett 69, played in very cold and icy conditions.
Second was Darren Berry and Jimmy Hunt, and third was Steve Greenwood and Sheldon Pickles.
