PENDLE Council is managing its money well, despite a difficult climate.
That was the message from the council’s leader on finance, Coun. Linda Crossley, this week.
Executive members heard about the council’s careful borrowing and investment of funds at their last meeting when a report on treasury activities will be considered.
“In these volatile times, it’s important to ensure that we manage the council’s money effectively.
“That means making sure our investments are sound and our borrowing costs are low,” she said.
“This month we had more good news. We’ve passed our annual audit of accounts with a clean bill of health.”
Like all councils, Pendle’s accounts are scrutinised in detailed by independently appointed auditors.
Their job it is to provide an opinion on whether the accounts give a true and fair view of the council’s financial position.
“I’m pleased to say that the auditors have completed their review of the accounts for 2011/12 and we’ve passed with flying colours,” said Coun. Crossley.
