A TERMINALLY ill Hapton woman looks set to have the wedding of her dreams thanks to offers of help from across East Lancashire.

On Friday, the Express revealed primary school teacher Kathy Nutter (31), of Bridgefield Street, only has months to live and will marry fiance Carl Morris in February.

The couple had planned to wed in April but had to bring forward the big day after they received devastating news about Kathy’s illness two days before Christmas.

The Express appealed to Burnley businesses to help make Kathy’s dream come true and her friends, who are organising the wedding, said they have been flooded with offers for catering, wedding dress, flowers, centre pieces and tableware.

The ceremony will take place at Bolton School, Bolton, and the couple will hold their reception at Accrington Town Hall.

Friend Leah Massey said: “I had 52 calls last Friday. We’ve had a really good response. We’ve had dozens of offers from different people.

“Kathy really appreciates it. It’s brightened her day, she’s really grateful and so is Carl, it’s taken the financial pressure of them.

“We have a little bit of money now for the buffet but any donations will be appreciated.

“We just need to sort out wedding cars and wedding rings now. I want to thank everybody who has helped so far.”

Kathy’s friends will be packing bags at Sainsbury’s supermarket, in Active Way, on Saturday, January 28th, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Staff and pupils at St John Southworth Primary School, Nelson, where Kathy worked until she became ill, are holding a community cafe in school on Friday to raise money. Children are being urged to wear bright colours and are designing place setting cards for the wedding.

Members of Kanokwai-Budo-Renmei Martial Arts club in Colne are also holding a sponsored throw on Thursday, January 26th, to boost funds.

Anyone wanting to help can contact Leah on 07708814512. Donations can also be made via St John Southworth Primary School.
