Nelson took the honours in the first derby of the season, with a 14 run victory in a back-and-forth game at the Horsfield.
Nelson won the toss and decided to bat. Skipper Neil Thompson might have regretted that decision initially, as David Wallbank trapped Tom McGladdery for 10, and Matthew Walker made a fine catch off professional Shadley van Schalkwyk to dismiss Lewis Bradley for five.
Tom Bradshaw was next out after a defensive shot, as he tried to stop the ball rolling onto the stumps, but unfortunately used his hand.
Professional Ryan Canning (12) was lbw to Wallbank, and David Crotty excellently caught by Lewis Rimmer off the same bowler, and Nelson were 41-5 and in deep trouble.
But Sean Lemon joined skipper Thompson, and the pair repaired the damage.
Thompson made 42 in a partnership of 84 before Matthew Walker bowled him, and then Russell Bradley made 43 not out in quick time. Lemon completed his 50, and the partnership was worth 77 when the innings closed with Nelson 202-6.
For Colne, Khurrum Nazir and Lewis Rimmer shared 46 before Richard Meade had Rimmer caught for 19.
Adil Ali was brought on from the Grange End, and bowled Joel Duerden with his third ball. A couple of overs later he bowled Nazir for 48, and Sam Tillotson followed next ball.

Phelan came into the attack and trapped him lbw for 23.
Ali dismissed Jamil, Phelan took the wickets of Ramshead and Walker, and with Colne at 143-8, Nelson had the upper hand. Adam Holt put on 16 with Alex White, until White became Phelan’s fourth victim, and when Wallbank was neatly caught by Phelan for eight, Colne were still 14 runs short, with Holt 32 not out.
Ali took 5-50, and Phelan career best figures of 4-33.
