Earby progressed to the quarter-finals of the Ramsbottom Cup on Sunday by virtue of a 1-0 bowlout victory over Clitheroe secured by Danny Kegg.
But Barnoldswick went out to Ribblesdale Wanderers in a similar lottery, losing 1-0, after their clash with Ribblesdale Wanderers was also lost to their weather on Sunday.
Earby will now travel to Padiham on June 2nd for their last eight tie.
In the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League the previous day, rain again made for a frustrating afternoon for the locals. Barnoldswick had reached 20-1 against Salesbury before the game was abandoned, and there was no play in Earby’s game at Baxenden.
Tomorrow, Barnoldswick host Baxenden and Earby are at Edenfield.
The Fosters Lancashire League was also a washout for Nelson and Colne this weekend. On Saturday, there was no play in Colne’s home game with Todmorden or Nelson’s trip to East Lancashire.
And the following day, in the min-derbies, Nelson’s home fixture with Burnley didn’t start at all, while Colne were 15-2 at champions Lowerhouse, Lewis Rimmer and Khurrum Nazir both out for six.
Tomorrow, Colne host Enfield and Nelson entertain Rishton, and on Sunday in the Worsley Cup, Colne are at home to Church, and Nelson have a bye.
