Colne remain rooted to foot of Lancashire League after defeat

Second placed Haslingden made 300 for the second week running to beat Colne by 60 runs in a high scoring game at the Horsfield.

The match contained a staggering 81 extras with Colne conceding 44, 40 of which were wides, and Haslingden 37, 19 of which were wides.

Professional Brenton Parchment made 90 from 99 balls with six fours and four sixes, adding 190 for the second wicket with Jack Taylor who made a career best 83.

Taylor hit eight fours and three sixes from the 131 balls that he faced. Lee Ingham made an unbeaten 33 and Muneeb Ahmed 15 in Haslingden’s 300-6. Adam Holt took 3-67.

Colne professional Shadley van Schalkwyke made a superb league best 111 in Colne’s spirited reply of 240 all out.

The South African scored his runs at a run a ball, hitting a dozen fours and two sixes.

He put on 107 for the eighth wicket with Joel Duerden who made a league best unbeaten 21 after Colne had struggled to 122-7.

Holt also made 28 and skipper Matt Walker 17 with Parchment taking 4-55 to keep Accrington’s lead still at 24 points after 10 matches.

Colne have now every one of the eight league games they have played this season and are nine points adrift at the bottom of the table.

Tomorrow sees them travels to leaders Accrington, who have won all their games.
