Gold for Leah as Park shine on county stage

Park High School - representing Pendle for the first time - enjoyed great success at the Lancashire Schools’ Track and Field Championships last weekend in Wigan.

Year 9’s Leah Hillman continued to display her command of javelin, achieving an exceptional throw of 34.52m to take a well-deserved first place.

Not only was this her personal best, but she but also set a new Championship best performance, beating it by a clear 2m.

Leah was over 4m clear of second place and will go on to represent Lancashire at the English Schools at Birmingham.

Jack Endersby also had success with a fantastic distance of 10.65m in Junior Boys’ Shot, gaining second place.

Over on the track, Matthew Barnes was second in the Junior Boys’ 1,500m with a very respectable time of 04:32:2.

Second place in the Junior Boys 200m went to Alex Richardson with a time of 25.1 seconds. closely followed in third place by Joe Lonsdale with a time of 25.2 seconds.
