A Pendle clay pigeon shooter is hoping to celebrate his first international cap with a gold medal.
Joe Emmott, from Barrowford, is representing Great Britain in the European FITASC Compak Championships in San Marino.
The 46-year-old, who has been competing since his teens, earned his call-up after taking gold at the British Open at Suffolk’s Hepworth Hall in March before scooping silver at the British Grand Prix event in Sussex a month later.
The competition, which got underway yesterday, will see 1,000 entrants from across 20 European countries battle for honours over four days. Each competitor will be faced with 50 targets per day.
After the tournament, Joe will join his international team-mates for the World Championships in Madrid.
“I’ve finally realised my ambition of competing for Great Britain which is an absolute honour,” said Joe.
“Now I want to achieve other goals such as winning the European and World Championships.
“It’s fantastic and I can’t wait to get going. It would be great to pull on the Great Britain uniform and get on the podium.”
