AFTER an enforced winter break, Pendle Forest second team entertained Garstang seconds in a rearranged fixture.
Forest started well and dominated posession for the first 15 minutes without creating any clear cut opportunities.
Lack of playing time over the last month started to show, and Garstang came into the match, playing some lovely one-twos in midfield.
Garstang were awarded a couple of short corners, but these were thwarted by the Forest defence.
Garstang’s best chance came towards the end of the half but was cleared off the line by Janet Mitchell-Stanworth leaving the score at 0-0 at half-time.
The break gave Forest time to regroup and they came out in the second half full of energy.
Judith Hind was instrumental in attack and had an attempt cleared off the line before hitting the post.
Player of the match Dani Atherton controlled the midfield, and after a foul against her, she played a through ball that Hind duly converted to give Forest a well-deserved lead.
Forest hit the post for the second time before Garstang hit Forest on the break, putting the ball in the back of the net.
The goal was ruled out because of a foot in the circle, and Forest saw out the rest of the game to come away with all three points.
Forest hope to have all three teams in action this weekend with the first team away at Longridge, the second team at home to Blackpool and the third team away at Fulwood.
Final Score: Pendle Forest 2nds 1, Garstang 2nds 0
