After going top of the North Werst Counties First Division on Saturday, Nelson topped that with the giantkilling of the round to reach the quarter-finals of the LFA Challenge Trophy on Tuesday night.
The Blues stunned Darren Peacock’s EvoStik First Division North side 3-1 at the Giant Axe.
The Admirals made the breakthrough after just five minutes, Sakeel Abdullah playing in Jonny Hession, who finished across Danny MacDonald.
MacDonald was sent off on 20 minutes for handling outside the area under pressure from Richie Allen, and within a minute, substitute keeper Jordan Millar fumbled Peter Wright’s flick on from a Richie Allen corner, and Abdullah poked the loose ball in.
Three minutes after the break, Ben Woodhead dived to his left to save Tom Kilifin;s penalty after he had been brought down by Danny Finch, and the hosts pulled one back on 70 minutes when a cross from the left found Dave Swarbrick unmarked, and he lashed the ball home.
Lancaster were reduced to nine men 12 minutes from time as Ryan Winder saw red for kicking out at Ben Hoskin, and Nelson also suffered a dismissal as Abdullah, booked for a mistimed challenge in the first half, was given a harsh second yellow.
But the Blues sealed their win with two minutes remaining, substitute Danny Moss curling a left-foot effort past Millar.
The draw for the last eight was made yesterday after going to press.
On Saturday, Mark Fell’s men went top of the league with a 5-1 win at home to Ashton Town.
They led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Abdullah’s first goal for the club just before the break.
Abdullah side-footed a second, before Liam Rushton pulled one back.
Wright netted a penalty to make it 3-1, before Abdullah completed his hat-trick, and Ed O’Neill rounded things off.
