Park High School’s Charlotte Smith, Year 8, represented England at the Unified World Championships in Italy in October.
This is one of the largest mixed martial arts tournaments in the world and was attended by thousands of competitors from more than 90 countries from all five continents.
Charlotte, who has been kickboxing since she was seven, attends the Phoenix Academy of MMA in Barnoldswick, dedicating at least five hours a week to training.
On this occasion Charlotte didn’t win although she says she “gained a lot of experience competing at this level” which is invaluable to her for future competitions.
