Barnoldswick’s Lucy Horrock had another great win on Sunday at the third Cyclo-Cross National Trophy race in Durham.

The West Craven Technology College pupil led the race from the start, and by the end she finished 49 seconds in front of the next rider Poppy Wildman in the Under 14 girls’ section.

Lucy rode a very fast race, catching and passing most of the Under 16 riders who had been set off one minute before the Under 14 girls.

And she finished just four seconds slower than the winning Under 16 girl Charlotte Broughton, who had battled most of the race with Emily Wadsworth.

Team Hope Factory Racing rider Lucy has now won two out of three trophy races and is just two points behind the current leader Poppy Wildman of Nottingham Clarion CC.

Wildman won the first race in the series in Monmouthshire in October when Lucy finished fourth after a big crash, but Lucy has hit back with a vengeance.

Earlier this month, in Southampton, Lucy finished top of the pile, before this weekend’s win in Durham.

The next race in the series of six Trophy races is a week on Sunday at Milton Keynes Bowl.

Lucy has been in terrific form of late, having helped the North West B team win the Inter Area Team Championships youth section at Prissick Base in Middlesbrough two weeks ago, finishing as top-scoring Nort West girl as they finished ahead of East Midlands B, Yorkshire B, West Midlands B and North East B.

Having only started competing in the sport almost three years ago, at the start of the year she also performed superbly at the Cyclo Cross National Championships at Peel Park in Bradford, when she claimed second place.
