West Craven Turbines suffered a disappointing 59-44 defeat against Hyndburn.

The game started with Turbines’ Gonzalez opening the scoring with a brilliant centre forward move to the basket, followed by a few more strong moves through the Hyndburn defence.

Hyndburn replied with some very smart offences using their experience to keep the game level.

Some very in-form shooting from the Hyndburn team put the pressure on Turbines and built a firm lead.

Turbines came out into the second quarter with some good ideas that put the pressure on Hyndbur,n with Gonzalez and Robinson scoring and earning fouls due to some smart passing from Ireton, Capps and Smith.

However, a lapse on defence would then see Hyndburn guard Chambers sink some big threes to keep Hyndburn in the lead.

Turbines kept up in the third quarter with some good moves from Gonzalez and a drive from Capps.

The gap was reduced to 10 and Turbines then got the chance to bring Bradshaw on for his rebounding ability towards the end of the third.

Turbines had to go into the fourth with a change of plan, with the defence change to a man to man.

But Hyndburn scored ome good baskets and drew fouls to take the game away from Turbines.

MVP was Gonzalez.

The ladies lost 85-15 to MMU Cheshire, after a positive start.

But MMU gradually moved away from West Craven to lead 34-7 at the half, and 59-9 at the end of the third quarter.

The Turbines take on Stockport Lapwings tonight in their first home game of the season at Marsden Heights Community College.
