when her portrait and landscape artist business hit a rocky patch, Nelson woman Emily Jane Curry looked for a new outlet for her talents.
Inspired by a feature on novel writing, she decided to give it a go - and has never regretted it.
Emily, of Napier Street, completed her first novel in just 30 days and is now working on her second one.
The first, entitled “The Veil Gate: Guardian of Souls”, is a fantasy love story which she wrote in October, edited in January with the help of her mother and sister, and then, after researching self-publishing, placed the book on Lulu.com and Kindle under her nom de plume Emmy Pendle.
“I would love it if my writing could reach more people,” said Emily. “Books are written to be read and I feel that during this time of financial difficulty, people need escapism and ‘The Veil Gate’ offers that in spades.”
Emily is currently constructing a website about the book - www. theveilgate.co.uk - which should be available shortly.
