PEOPLE living in Pendle are being asked to help a park’s Friends group celebrate the park’s centenary.
The Friends of Marsden Park in Nelson are organising a spectacular celebration to mark the park’s 100-year anniversary.
The family fun day will take place on Saturday, June 23rd from 10-30 a.m. to 3-30 p.m.
On the day, there will be lots of fun things for all the family to enjoy, including an exhibition in Marsden Old Hall charting the history of the hall and park, in particular over the last 100 years.
Members of the public are being asked if they have any photographs of key events or attractions in the park over this period they are willing to lend for inclusion in the exhibition.
“As the park is so much a part of the community we also want to know why it is special to you.
“Jot down your special memories of Marsden park, send them to us and we will display them on our memory tree.” said Friends chairman Alison Plackett.
Following the event the memories will be put into a time capsule and buried in the park for future generations to discover.
Alison said: “The park is a part of us all and that is what makes it so special.
“It is only fitting that park users get involved in celebrating its 100th year.”
If you would like to send your photos or memories to be included in the exhibition, you can email them to mail@marsdenparkfriends.org or post them to The Friends of Marsden Park c/o 77 Roberts Street, Nelson BB9 0TD. Be sure to include a stamped addressed envelope if you wish to have your photos returned.
