Colne and Nelson rounded off an excellent season as they beat Newton le Willows to finish fifth in the table.
The side won more games than they lost, and the future looks good with all the young players coming up through the academy.
However, it was the last game for Colne’s “Peter Pan” Aaron Denton after twenty five years of first team service.
The deadlock was broken by a Matthew Tindall penalty, and Tindall scored the first try as the first half came to an end, going over in the corner after a pass from Gary Kenyon.
In the second half, Antony Minstrel stepped past the last defender to score, and before prop Adam Padgett powered over the opposite winger to score to make it 22-0.
Adam Davies crash over for what would have been his first try for the club but, the referee ruled it out for a knock on - one of three tries he had disallowwed in the game!
Colne weren’t finished though and Tindall produced a moment of sheer brilliance to chip the ball over three Newton backs and score in the corner.
Newton’s centre went over for a deserved try, but Colne finished with a convincing victory.
