Great scores reflected the great weather for David Perks’ Vice Captain’s Day at Marsden Park Golf Club.
The men’s winner was Nick Alderson, whose score of 88-23-65 beat Richard Morrison’s 90-25-65 on a card play-off.
Junior captain Tyler Baxer took third place with another good score of 86-18-68.
Nick’s dad Stephen Alderson (84-15-69) took fourth place.
Carol Robinson took the Ladies’ Vice Captain’s Stableford prize with an excellent 38 points, with the Men’s winner’s mother Julie Alderson’s 36 in second place.
Thomas Nicholson took the junior prize with 37 points, with Ayrton Morrison in second place with 21 points.
Nearest the pin prizes on the 11th went to Craig Procter, Margaret Riley and Thomas Nicholson respectively.
Jane McGregor was the only player on the day to get on the green in two on the 18th, which gave her the ladies’ prize.
At Colne, the Hewitt Bowl 36-hole competition was played over the weekend.
Round one was won by Phil Halstead’s 85-20-65, with Tony Kegg second, two shots adrift (83-16-67) and Richard Taylor (81-13-68) third.
Round two saw Steve Parker finish out in front with 77-11-66), three shots clear of Howard Proctor (81-12-69), who was second on the card from Steven Shepherd (82-13-69).
That meant Halstead (65+75=140) was the winner by virtue of having the lowest first round.
Brian Earnshaw (69+74=140) was overall second, with Harry Bolton (69+73=142) third.
Meanwhile, Colne Ladies’ Handicap Team won both their matches, beating Great Harwood 4.5-2.5, and Wilpshire 6.5-0.5.
The ladies also played for the Handicap Shield Qualifer, and for the second week in a row, Beverley Wellock won with a 83-12-71 from Debra Wood (101-28-73) and Liz Reddy (90-15-75).
