Over the Bank Holiday, Colne ASC’s Ben Havers-Strong travelled to Blackpool to take part in the Blackpool Rocks Open Meet.
The nine-year-oldended up winning two golds, five silvers and a bronze medal as he took on some of the best young swimmers in Lancashire.
Ben won the 50m and 200m Butterfly events. This was followed by second places in the 400m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke and 50m Backstroke events. He was third in the 200m Individual Medley event, and finished with a ninth place in the 50m Breaststroke event.
He managed to lower his personal bests in the 400m Freestyle by a huge 45 seconds, the 200m Freestyle by 16 seconds and the 200m Backstroke also by 16 seconds.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Gateshead and Whickham Masters returned to the calendar after a four-year break.
Two members of the Colne ASC Masters Team attended, and due to the lack of competitors the results were combined using an age-adjusted formula.
Philip Croxall (40-44) finished second in the 100m Butterfly, third in the 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke, fourth in the 100m Individual Medley and ninth in the 100m Freestyle.
And Stephen Smith (45-49) finished third in the 100m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley, sixth in the 200m Freestyle and eighth in the 400m Freestyle.
